Adsense Allows More Ads Per Page

Google Adsense is now allowing its users to put 3 link units on every page as opposed to the 1 link unit you could historically place. This technically means that you can have 3 blocks of Ads and 3 link units on every page.

The interesting thing about this change in policy is that it comes right after Adsense’s announcement that they were cracking down on the websites that were built purely to generate Adsense revenue. Obviously there are quality sites out there that will find this change useful, but I wonder if it won’t give more people more incentive to create ugly and useless websites.

I’ve never understood why people make junk sites just to make some money by advertising. If you do this, you have to keep building sites, because visitors won’t retun. IMHO it’s much better to create a real product, and sell it.

Search engine expert James Brausch did some extensive “reverse engineering” of the Search Engine Ranking Factors (SERFs), and found that having AdSense on your website is a negative Ranking Factor… meaning your site is LESS likely to rank well if you have AdSense on it.

He suggests that this is in response to all the junk AdSense sites that are being made, and that Google wants to ensure that their searches deliver higher quality results.

    Cheers,
    Jim
