Browser Stats
I was surprised to see the percentage of people who used Firefox over Internet Explorer this last month. According to w3schools, Firefox had an incredible 31% of the browser market share. There are other stats that say IE still has around 80%, but w3Schools only puts them at 58.6% for the month of January.
Personally, I love using Firefox. It’s much more customizeable and user-friendly. It’s nice to see that there is an ever-growing number of people who agree with me.
I think the primary reason for the discrapancy is that those numbers from W3Schools appear to be pulled from their own log files and/or site stats. The audience visiting their site is much more tech savvy, thus the higher inclination towards Firefox. The general population doesn’t see the need to install a browser when the IE browser that comes with their computer works just fine. It is interesting to see the growth in marketshare of Firefox in their report, though.
